This is such a lovely, cozy home! Veronika and Thomas have stocked the kitchen incredibly well, and taken so much care to make the whole house comfortable and lovely. The beds are great, the outside space is inviting too, and they were clear and quick with their communication. The location is fantastic, with an easy walk to the bay beach, and great bike rides to the ocean beaches. I highly recommend this home and these hosts.

My family has been renting houses around Eastham for about 30 summers (and counting!) and we have had fun trying new spaces as our group has grown over time. This house is definitely one of the nicest we've stayed at. Veronika and Thomas have done a lovely job with the decor and amenities. There is plenty of space for a large group, tons of games to keep the kids entertained, and a nice outdoor space (including a great fire pit for s'mores). It is a walkable distance to Sunken Meadow beach (great for a morning walk, although if you plan to haul a bunch of beach gear and/or small kids, you'll want to get a beach sticker and drive/park). Overall, a great choice!

Our family had a great Veronika and Thomas’s place! Great use of space and they had some great touches with toys for the kids. We’d definitely rent from them in the future!

We loved staying here. Imagine a long drive ending in a turn down a sweet street where you and see open skies and a stairway to the beach at the end. It is in such an outstanding location - wonderful that it's an easy walk to Thumpertown Beach and in close proximity to gorgeous Cape Cod National Seashore beaches. The house has a great layout, is attractively decorated, has everything you need including an outdoor shower, and is in a very cozy, quiet cul-de-sac. It's close to everything and yet tucked away and serene. The hosts are very gracious, providing detailed information to make it a hassle-free experience. Highly recommend!

We booked this property to stay for our Summer vacation on Cape Cod due to the spacious home and proximity to attractions we wanted to visit. It was our first time staying at Veronika and Thomas's home and the description fit our needs, but the home once we arrived was beyond our expectations! We vacationed with 2 other families, all with kids ranging in age from 4 - 18 yrs old and there was plenty of space, and things to do for everyone! The bedrooms were so comfortable and quiet. The boys had fun playing video games and ping pong on the ping pong table in the garage. The neighborhood is fantastic for walks and a short walk or bike to the beach. The yard and back porches are spectacular! There is a nice hammock in the yard to fall asleep and the yard is very private and beautiful. The location is excellent and just about a 20 minute drive to Provincetown. We will definitely return to Veronika and Thomas's place next year for another wonderful vacation! Also, there is a grocery store and shopping plaza not far from the house if you need regular staples like bread, milk, etc.
Beaches
Eastham has some of the most beautiful beaches on the Cape. You have easy access to warm bayside beaches, but check the tide table if you are going for a swim. A short drive or bike ride away, you will find the mile-long beautiful Atlantic Ocean facing beaches. Here is an overview of the nearest beaches.
Things to do
Eastham has a long history and was incorporated already in 1651. About 1/3 of the town is part of the National Seashore. The town has beautiful beaches and lots of things to do. First, here are a few fun facts about Eastham.

Going to the beach
Eastham’s beaches are among the finest in the world. The vast white sand beaches offer a diversity of choices, including, salt water and fresh water beaches, calm water and big waves, and a range of sizes from small secluded beaches to huge beaches with plenty of room for a volleyball game.
The CapeCodOnline.com beach guide has detailed information about each of the more than 130 Cape Cod beaches, including video, a list of amenities, directions and more. If you need beach parking, week-long beach parking passes for bayside town beaches are available for pre-purchase. More information here.

Visit a lake
If salt water isn’t to your taste, a lovely freshwater pond might be just what you’re looking for. Wiley Park on the shores of Great Pond is a great place to start. Its narrow strip of sand offers both sunny and shady spots, and lush green surroundings make it very picturesque. If you are in for a short bike ride, the other side of Great Lake, Great Pond Beach, is our afternoon favorite with it's warm afternoon sun and stunning sunsets.

Hiking
The area you are in is very walkable. Enjoy walking on the beach, or enjoy the quiet bayside roads and paths. Pro tip: When you have roads that are cut off or dead ends, there is often a sandy path taking you over to the other side. You can also find a number of maintained hiking paths in the area. You will find our favorite hikes and much more at the Cape Cod National Seashore Guide to Trails.
Here are some of our favorite hikes:
- Nauset Marsh (Eastham) with extension to Coast Guard Beach
- Great Island (Wellfleet)
- Atlantic White Cedar Swamp (Wellfleet)
- Sand Dune Trail aka Dune Shack Trail (Provincetown)

Biking
The famous Cape Cod Rail Trail goes through entire length of Eastham. The Cape Cod Rail Trail ("the Bike Path") is a twenty-four mile path that starts on Route 134 in Dennis and ends at LeCount Hollow in Wellfleet. The trail follows the old Penn Central Railway tracks. Today the tracks are gone, but the convenience to all of Eastham is easily accessible. Just off the path, side trips offer ocean beaches and fishing piers, country stores and quaint villages, parks, picnic areas, and places to lodge and dine. You can easily get to the bike path from the house by following local roads to an intersection point.
Please refer to the Cape Cod Rail Trail site for maps and more information.
Idle Times bike shop offers free drop-off and pick-up bike service if you don’t want to bring your own bikes.
There are also two nearby paved bike paths - Nauset Trail (1.6 miles) and Head of the Meadow Trail (2 miles). The access points are:
- Nauset Bike Trail - starts at the National Seashore's Visitor Center and ends at Coast Guard Beach
- Head of the Meadow Trail - starts at High Head Road and ends at Head of Meadow Beach parking area, Truro

A Massachusetts Salt Water Fishing License is now required. Saltwater Fishing License available online only. Fresh water fishing requires a Massachusetts Fishing License for all 15 year olds and up. There are plenty of options for Fishing Charters from Chatham, Wellfleet and Provincetown.

Whale watching
Cape Cod whale watching will bring you up close and personal with some of the world’s largest and most majestic creatures. It is one of the most unique and exciting things to do while on Cape Cod. Humpback, finback and minke whales make their summer homes near Cape Cod.
Here are a few companies that offer whale safari:
- Dolphine Fleet Whale Watch - Dolphin Fleet vessel departures are located on MacMillan Pier in Provincetown [recommended]
- Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises - starting from Barnstable Harbor in Barnstable

Shell fishing
Shell fishing is a classic activity on the Outer Cape. For an introduction to this favorite pastime, Salt Pond is available on Sundays throughout the year and is stocked with quahogs, littlenecks and steamers -- oysters are also available in the fall. Bring your shell fish permit, rake, basket and sneakers and have some fun. Permits are required and available at 555 Old Orchard Road, Eastham. Check the Eastham, Natural Resources department website for more info.

Minigolf and games
For family entertainment it is hard to beat Cape Cod mini golf. It seems to bring out the competitive spirit in of all of us, usually with everyone trying to beat Dad. There are plenty of options for minigolf and other games in Eastham and other places on the Cape.
Here are a few options:
Icecream and coffee shops
Summer and ice cream are for many people synonyms. In addition to ice cream trucks visiting most beaches, you can also find a selection of ice cream and coffee shops in the area.
Here are some of our favorites:
Mushroom picking
Over 60 percent of Wellfleet is covered in beaches, woodlands, and marshes preserved for our pleasure. Russian-Americans say the landscape of the Cape Cod National Seashore reminds them of their former home. Read more: Going mushroom hunting in Wellfleet
